Thomas Power is an educator and filmmaker from the United States who is currently a professor (特任教授) in the Faculty of Business Administration at Hosei University in Tokyo. He was an associate professor (特任准教授) in the School of Political Science and Economics at Meiji University from 2010 to 2019 and an adjunct associate professor in e-learning and OpenCourseWare research for one year and a videographer and researcher at Keio University’s Research Institute for Digital Media and Content from 2006 to 2009.
His university studies in film and television in Los Angeles and graduate studies in literature and philosophy in Saint Louis have contributed to his life-long interest in the promotion of education and social justice issues through media and technology. He has produced a wide range of educational programs in the United States, Taiwan, and Japan.
Thomas first met Chisa Tanimoto, Koko Tanimoto Kondo and the Tanimoto family in 2002 when he began research on a documentary about Reverend Kiyoshi Tanimoto, Jesuit Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge and John Hersey’s acclaimed book, Hiroshima.
